(USED) For fans of Brazilian rosewood, Collings guitars, or just the finer things in life… it doesn’t get much sweeter than this! 25 years old and it hasn’t aged a day, a true “holy grail” Orchestra Model from back when Braz was still on the menu, and wood like THIS actually travelled around the country on big brown trucks.
This stunning instrument has everything going for it. Tight-grained Adirondack spruce, highly figured Brazilian rosewood (rated AAA by Bruce and Bill) and enough pearl to light up the stage. The looks are positively classic with 42-style abalone top purfling, rosette and around the fretboard extension. Ivoroid binding throughout, including fingerboard and headplate, style 3 marquetry back strip, snowflake inlays on a dark ebony fingerboard, Brazilian rosewood peghead overlay, gold tuners.
Spec-wise, this is a long (25 1/2″) scale guitar with 1 3/4″ nut width and 2 3/16″ string spacing at the saddle.
The condition is superb, with factory action, plenty of saddle, no fret wear, no cosmetic issues, save for a few very small lacquer chips on the back of the peghead.
Call it what you want, heirloom-grade, investment-grade… this is simply one of the nicest things that money can buy! An exquisite example of guitar building, from arguably the best shop to ever do it.
