(USED) Well what do we have here?? An exceptional sounding Collings OM1A, dated March 1999! We get a lot of requests for older Collings that are all broken in, opened up, and any honest play wear or added character is considered a bonus… well, this one is all opened up, but sorry, no real play wear. No scratches, no cracks, no dings, saddle never shaved, only the most faint fret wear on fret 1 under the unwound strings… this guitar is remarkably clean for being almost 22 years old! The sound is superb, plain and simple. The wood warmth of mahogany, the clarity and growl of Adirondack spruce, and not a hint of stridency. This is what it’s all about.
Beautiful, tight-grained Adirondack spruce top, has aged to a lovely golden color. Honduran mahogany has an excellent “wave” running across the lower bout on the back, very interesting bit of figure. Modified V neck profile with 1 3/4″ nut and 2 3/16″ string spacing at the saddle. Ebony fingerboard with dot inlays, ebony bridge and pins. Brazilian rosewood peghead overlay. Nickel Waverly tuners. Includes non-original hard case.
This one is a prize, folks! Back in 1999, Bill Collings and a small team were working their butts off, making some of the best acoustic instruments the world had ever seen… and we all know what happened after that!
