(USED) We could make an argument that guitars finished in varnish are some of the finest sounding ever, and it saddens us that this very labor-intensive finish option is now discontinued by some of our favorite builders. This Bourgeois dread from 2012 is a welcome reminder of how warm and lovely a varnish guitar can sound.
Adirondack spruce top with a few hints of bearclaw. Mahogany back, sides and neck. Long 25 1/2″ scale with 1 23/32″ nut and 2 1/4″ string spacing at the saddle. Neck has Bourgeois’ comfortable modified V shape. Ebony fingerboard with dot inlays. Waverly open-back tuners.
Condition is excellent on this one with just a few shallow dings in the top and some pick swirls on the pick guard. A slight dullness to the finish behind the bridge tells us that a bridge lift might have been addressed at some point in the last 12 years (holding strong now). No cracks or fret wear. Includes original hard case.
