(USED) We are happy to say that Little Victoria has come back to us! That’s our pet name for this elegant little Victorian Piccolo Parlor from Bourgeois Guitars. Originally build for our shop in 2014, all these years later it shows no signs of play wear whatsoever. It still has the factory setup, full saddle height, and no cosmetic issues. If you’ve been watching for one of these to come up used, they don’t come much cleaner than this!
The Piccolo Parlor is Dana Bourgeois’ interpretation of a true Victorian-style parlor guitar, a steel string cousin to the instruments that actually occupied the parlors of the United States and western Europe in the late 19th century. For that reason, it has a very specific and direct voice, compared to most modern iterations. Small stature alone doesn’t make a parlor guitar, and Dana’s version is far more authentic in its sonic signature than most. This example, in Adirondack and beautifully figured Koa, has a very lute-like voice. It is highly responsive to a light touch, with an incredibly detailed, and it doesn’t need (nor does it really like) to be pushed. This is not a campfire strummer, that’s for sure… but you probably already know that!
Other specs include Koa binding, “Presentation” style peghead inlay and “DB Snowflake” fingerboard, gold Waverly tuners. It has an ebony fingerboard and ebony pyramid bridge, and bone pins, nut and saddle. 1 3/4″ nut with 2 3/8″ saddle spacing, 25″ scale length. Comfy modified “V” neck with satin finish. Marquetry back strip. Lovely! Includes original TKL case.
